During his visit, the Commissioner saw first-hand how the initiative is engaging 11–18-year-olds through activities such as wild cooking, photography, and pottery—helping them build valuable skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Escape2Make received £3,000 from the Commissioner’s Summer Community Fund, which supported 36 projects across Lancashire. The fund provides free, safe, and positive activities for thousands of young people during the school holidays, helping them grow in confidence, develop resilience, and make lasting memories.
Following the visit, Commissioner Clive Grunshaw said:
“It was fantastic to visit Escape2Make in Lancaster. The workshops are creative, engaging, and clearly popular with young people—making it a great option for the summer.
“School holidays can be a difficult time, with fewer structured activities available and little for young people to do. That can sometimes lead to young people being at greater risk of getting involved in crime or anti-social behaviour.
“Projects like this offer meaningful experiences that keep young people safe, support their development, and reduce pressure on policing—ultimately helping to protect our communities.”
