Recognising the vital role that apprentices continue to have across the force, the Commissioner thanked Eleanor, Danielle and Emma for the work they are doing and heard more about the different ways they are gaining experience and playing their part in the work of Lancashire Constabulary to ultimately, keep Lancashire safe.
They talked about how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected their roles and their apprenticeship generally, including remote working, and taking on different responsibilities.
The Commissioner also answered questions about his role and explained how the priorities in his Police and Crime Plan inform the work across the force.
He said:
“Apprenticeships provide a great opportunity for those who want to take an alternative path into policing, and it is always really good to hear first-hand, their experiences during their time within the force.
“My office always looks to offer young people the opportunity of apprenticeships wherever possible, with many then going on to further their careers both in and out of policing. My Social Value policy outlines our approach to spending money to ensure as much value remains in the Lancashire area, which also encourages the creation of apprenticeships, as I know the benefit this can bring across our communities.
“Apprentices are learning key skills that will benefit their long term careers, whilst also making a really positive impact now to the work that the force does to keep the people of Lancashire safe.”
The Commissioner is committed to the use of apprenticeships to support the work of the force and also help create job opportunities that develop people’s skills and careers.
His ‘Backing Lancashire’ campaign builds on his pledge, alongside Lancashire Constabulary, to ensure all procurement and commissioning activity maximises social, economic and environmental benefit.
