Commissioner invests £177K to tackle violence against women and girls

Commissioner Grunshaw and officers

Funded through cash seized from criminals, the investment will support a total of 38 intervention projects that aim to prevent violence, support survivors, and create safer environments for women and girls across Lancashire.

Grants of up to £5,000 have been awarded to a wide variety of schemes, ranging from supporting vulnerable women and girls to education and sports-based outreach activities.

Projects also include support for victims of crime and targeted intervention work with domestic abuse perpetrators to break the cycle of reoffending, all with the aim of reducing crime and making local communities safer.

Commissioner Grunshaw said: “Preventing violence against women and girls is a Police and Crime Plan priority, and I’m pleased to be able to support local projects and organisations tackling this issue in our communities.

“This fund is part of the broader strategy to reduce victimisation, increase positive outcomes, challenge misogyny, and tackle offenders.

“Investing in targeted projects across Lancashire empowers local organisations, strengthens public trust, and contributes to safer communities.

“As Commissioner, delivering this impact is a clear priority, and I will continue to work with the Constabulary, our partners, and community organisations to make sure that Lancashire is a safe place for all.”
